Treatment Approach

We are treating alcoholics with AA philosophy & basic principles of Rational Thought and simultaneously are being treated by members of the medical profession. This model is based on conceptualization of alcoholism as a primary, progressive, disorder whose management required sustained abstinence and an active, continuing, program of recovery along with basic principles of Rational Thought such as we (humans) are responsible for our own lives i.e. actions and choices, protect your interest first, etc. The key element to this approach is the blending of professional and trained non-professional (recovering) staff around the principle of Alcoholics Anonymous and Rational Thought this multi-disciplinary approach is termed as The Aark Model. There is an individualized treatment plan with active family involvement in a 90-day inpatient setting and participation in Alcoholics Anonymous and Rational Thought both during and after treatment.

The Aark Model

The Aark Model is characterized by a thorough and ongoing assessment of all aspects of the client and by the treatment of the client utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach, with co-operation between the professional and non-professional fields:

  • This may include group and individual therapy, family education and support, and other methods such as ABT, Music Therapy, Recreational Therapy .
  • A multidisciplinary team of professionals (e.g., counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians) plan and assist in the treatment process for each client.
  • Treatment provides tools and a context for the client to learn new ways of living without alcohol and drugs.
